Our New Support Website is Launched!

Thyroid UK is very pleased to launch a new web-based support tool, which will enable you to connect with other people with thyroid and related conditions.

The website will enable you, among other things, to compare notes with others, read blogs about personal experiences, take part in a survey where you can rate your local hospital in respect of thyroid treatment, and compare hospitals to see which one would be best for you. Study Controls Needed...

Thyroid UK Needs
Controls for Their Study

You may be aware that Thyroid UK is running a study to compare thyroid blood tests to thyroid urine tests. We need to recruit more volunteers for the control group, (i.e. people with no history of thyroid disease).

We would be very grateful if you would ask any of your friends and family if they would be kind enough to volunteer. It would mean completing a form before having a chat with our Study Co-ordinator and then, if they fit the criteria for the study, it will mean travelling to Epsom Downs in Surrey for an assessment. After the assessment, they will need to go Genova Diagnostics Europe to have the tests. Genova Diagnostics is near Motspur Park rail station in New Maldon, Surrey.

Where Can I Get My Desiccated Thyroid Hormone?

Thyroid UK has received emails and phone calls from patients who do not realise that the problem with availability of desiccated thyroid hormone has much abated. 'Armour' Thyroid, manufactured by Forest Pharmaceuticals, 'Nature-Throid' and 'Westhroid', both manufactured by RLC Labs, and 'Thyroid' manufactured by Erfa Canada Inc. are all now readily available. read more (last updated 12/08/10)
