Awards for All

Awards for All has made a grant of £9,627 to finish work on the log cabin intended to be the new headquarters of Thyroid UK and to purchase essential furniture and office equipment.  Other projects included in the Award are the distribution of leaflets to GPs, the printing of an updated Information Pack and updating the website.  These will raise awareness and become a major source of assistance to the many thousands of UK residents who turn to Thyroid UK each year for totally independent and impartial advice on thyroid disorders.
Having the new office will enable our staff to have their own desks and computers rather than sharing, it is a major step forward for us and we will be able to develop a host of new services as a result of having dedicated office space.

Progress of Projects:

Log Cabin:  This has now been completed and fully fitted.  It has been a great improvement as we have much more space in which to work now.

Furniture and Office Equipment:  The log cabin has now been fitted with all necessary furniture including a corner where we can have small meetings. There are now three desks and three computers, two of which are used by Lyn Mynott, Chair/Chief Executive and Louise Warvill, Charity Secretary.  The third desk is a “hot desk” used by the office assistant, the bookkeeper and volunteers who come into the office to help.
The new telephones are excellent as we each have our own handset and calls can be forwarded between us as necessary.
We also have a good quality laser printer that automatically prints double-sided which means things get printed much quicker than they used to.

Leaflets to GPs:  This will be completed in conjunction with the public launch of The Information Standard (new name for the Accreditation Scheme).

Updated Information Pack:  This will be completed in conjunction with the public launch of The Information Standard (new name for the Accreditation Scheme).
